Tourism is not the forte of the city of Kerch, because of the former Soviet industrial concept. In a way, this is an advantage, as hotels are cheap. Yet, the situation changes. Despite the lack of beaches in town's area, there are a lot of them at distance of 20 minute travel by bus or taxi.
Travel to Kerch is either by road, rail or ferry. There are direct trains running to Kerch from Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. It is about four hours by car or bus from Simferopol (airport / train station). There are numerous bus services to/from Kerch, including the bus line to Russia over the Strait of Kerch by ferry.
